Chat with Robin's Word Add-In
The Robin Word Add-In integrates with Word, enabling legal professionals to work with documents without switching applications. This guide covers how to chat with Robin, our legal AI assistant to improve your review workflows. In the Chat tab, the Robin Word Add-in has four modes which can be used to accelerate your contract review.
Getting Started
- Open a document in Word.
- Click the Robin icon in the Word ribbon to open the Add-In in the right hand panel.
- Login with your account credentials or via Single Sign On where applicable.
- Click Continue to enable Robin read your contract and you’re ready to use the Add-in.
Ask
This is the default mode when you launch the Robin add-in and enables you ask to any question about your documents. You can perform a broad range of actions such as asking Robin to explain terms or clauses and summarize key points contained in your documents.
How to use Ask:
- Ensure you are in Ask mode by clicking on Ask below the chat box.
- Input your question or instructions in the chat box and click the send button.
Draft
This mode in the Chat tab enables Robin to generate new clauses or terms for your documents. You can create entire clauses or paragraphs based on your instruction and your other documents within Robin.
How to use Draft:
- Ensure you are in Draft mode by clicking on Draft below the chat box.
- Input your instruction in the chat box and click send.
- Give Robin a few minutes to provide a draft. Provide further instructions to refine the draft until you’re satisfied with the output.
- Click Copy and paste the new clause in your preferred position within your document.
Edit
This mode enabled Robin to directly modify existing text in your document. Robin can rewrite, strengthen or simplify the language without requiring you to manually implement the changes.
How to use Edit:
- Ensure you are inEdit mode by clicking on Edit below the chat box.
- Highlight the desired text to edit in your document.
- Input your instruction in the chat box and click send. Please note you will be unable to input your instructions in the chat box until the required text has been highlighted.
- Give Robin a few minutes to provide a revised version of the text. Provide further instructions to refine the edit until you’re satisfied with the output.
- Click Apply and Edit in Document to edit the relevant text with redlines directly in the document.
Research
This mode enables users to research legal sources in the web while including context from your document.
How to use Research:
- Ensure you are in Research mode by clicking on Research beneath the chat box.
- Type your question in the chat box and click send.
- Give Robin a few minutes to search the web in response to your question.
- Robin will provide an answer with citations to its web sources. Click on any citation to be directed to the source webpage.
Redlines
Robin will take cognisance of tracked changes in your document when providing an answer in Chat. You can choose to turn this off by taking the following steps:
- Click the three dot menu in the top right of the add-in panel below the Chat tab.
- Navigate to Ignore Redlines and click the toggle to disable.
Troubleshooting Chat issues
When experiencing loading issues or unresponsiveness from Robin, complete the following steps:
- Click the info icon in the top right corner.
- Click Clear Web Cache then click Reload.
- Save changes to your document then close and open Word.
- Launch the Robin add-in and login into your account.
