Permission Groups

Permission Groups control who can access and collaborate on documents within Robin’s Legal Intelligence Platform (LIP). Follow the steps below to securely manage your document visibility and team access.

Understanding Permission Group Types

Every document uploaded to LIP must be assigned to a Permission Groups and they are of three distinct types, each serving different collaborative needs:

  • Personal Groups are only accessible only to you.
  • Private Groups are only accessible by users explicitly invited to the group.
  • Public Groups are visible to all users within the platform.

Note: Only Owner/Admin user roles can create groups and manage which users have access. Owner user roles can see all groups within the platform including private groups.

Create a New Permission Group

  • Click Permissions Groups in the left hand panel.
  • Select Create New Group in the top right corner of the page.
  • Give the Group a name then choose whether to make the group private by toggling Private Group - Invite Only. All groups are public by default.
  • For private groups, you can either invite other users to the groups by scrolling the dropdown or searching by name.
  • Your private group becomes personal if you don’t add any users. You can also add users later.
  • Click Create Group to save.

Edit a Permission Group

  • Click Permissions Group in the left hand panel.
  • Navigate to the desired group and click the three dots at the bottom right.
  • Rename the Group, make public or private, add and remove more users with the access to the group as required.
  • Click Save Changes to complete.
