Mark-up with WAI: Transforming Legal Workflows
Robin’s Word Add-In (WAI) empowers legal and business teams to review, edit, and negotiate contracts with AI directly inside Microsoft Word—the environment where most contract work happens. Now powered by the new Legal Intelligence Platform (LIP), WAI offers smarter, context-aware suggestions based on your organisation’s past agreements, prior negotiation history, and ongoing learning from your legal data. This means you can draft, redline, analyse, and finalise contracts efficiently in Word, while all your work is securely connected to LIP for full visibility and reporting across your contract portfolio.
Why Mark-Up with WAI?
Traditional contract mark-up is time-intensive and manual. Errors, missed issues, or inconsistent language can slow negotiations, create risk, and frustrate stakeholders.
WAI automates routine mark-up tasks (such as redlining, clause edits, and drafting standard responses), ensuring teams spend less time on the basics and more time on high-value work.
Every mark-up action is contextualized: Robin reviews definition usage, checks for logical gaps, and flags inconsistencies based on your past agreements, a playbook or negotiating position—helping you drive confident, informed decision-making.
WAI Mark-up Workflow
Here’s how users complete key contract review and negotiation tasks using WAI:
1. Open your contract in Microsoft Word
Make sure the Robin Word Add-In is installed and visible in your toolbar. If not, follow your usual install steps.
2. Launch Robin and log in
Click the Robin icon. Log in using your credentials to connect with your organisation’s platform.
3. Start with your Review
Use WAI’s “Ask” mode for general questions, quick summaries or context-aware suggestions based on your organisation’s past agreements and/or playbook positions.
Use WAI’s “Draft” mode to help draft clauses to insert directly into your document - these could be clauses that are missing from your document.
Use WAI’s “Edit” mode to make edits to existing clauses ensuring alignment with your organisations’ positions.
Use WAI’s “Research” mode to enhance answers with authoritative, up-to-date information from a curated set of trusted legal sources on the web.
4. Review AI suggestions, edits, and risk flags
WAI analyses the contract and surfaces clause-level recommendations—these might be tracked changes, comments, or highlighted text based on your company standards.
5. Accept, refine, or reject edits directly in Word
Choose which recommendations to keep, adapt, or remove using Word’s review features. You’re always in control—nothing is changed without your approval.
6. Save or export your work
All changes are saved directly in your document and synced back to LIP, making them accessible for portfolio reporting, future precedent, and auditability.
Note: Every edit, suggestion, and review step is powered by LIP in the background, but your day-to-day experience remains seamless inside Word.
